Ten Biggest Legends of the Hacker Universe

A hacker is a person who breaks into computers and computer networks for profit, in protest, or because they are motivated by the challenge.the term hacker is reclaimed by computer programmers who argue that someone breaking into computers is better called a cracker, not making a difference between computer criminals ("black hats") and computer security experts ("white hats"). Today i give you information about the 10 Biggest legends of the Hacker universe.
    1) Kevin Mitnick: Known worldwide as the “most famous hacker” and for having been the first to serve a prison sentence for infiltrating computer systems. He started dabbling when he was a minor, using the practice known as phone phreaking. Although he has never worked in programming, Mitnick is totally convinced that you can cause severe damage with a telephone and some calls. These days, totally distanced from his old hobbies and after passing many years behind bars, he works as a security consultant for multinational companies through his company “Mitnick Security.”

    2) Gary McKinnon: This 41-year-old Scotsman, also known as Solo, is the perpetrator of what’s considered the biggest hack in the history of computer science – into a military system. Not satisfied with this, in the years 2001 and 2002, he made a mockery of the information security of NASA itself and the Pentagon. Currently he is at liberty awarding his extradition to the U.S. and prohibited access to a computer with Internet connection.

Tablet war hots up, Blackberry to launch Playbook this month

After mobile phones, the competition is hotting up for “tablets” in India with BlackBerry-maker Research in Motion (RIM) all set to launch its PlayBook in the country later this month, to face the likes of Apple’s iPad and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab.

The Canadian firm will launch PlayBook in Indian markets and some other countries this month, sources said. According to the company’s website, the PlayBook is scheduled to be launched in 16 countries, including the UK, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Australia, UAE and India.

“The price is going to be competitive with the other products and in line with the global pricing as well,” they said.

The price in India could range between Rs 22,000 and Rs 32,000, depending upon its storage capacity, from 16 GB to 64 GB.

Globally, PlayBook is available at USD 499, USD 599 and USD 699 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions, respectively.

Since the launch of Apple’s iPad, the tablet market is witnessing huge competition, with new contenders launching their devices. A tablet PC, though smaller in size, has PC-like functionalities.

Apple’s rival in the computing space, Dell had launched the ‘Streak’ last year in India, while homegrown telecom handset makers like Spice and Olive have also launched similar devices at much lower price points.

The BlackBerry tablet has received a mixed response from the markets where it has been launched. According to reports, unlike rival iPad, which sold like hot cakes on its launch in April last year, the PlayBook just sold 50,000 copies in the first week of its launch on April 19 in the US and Canada.

BlackBerry has over one million users in India and RIM would target them.

The PlayBook is a seven-inch tablet that runs on a new operating system built by QNX Software Systems - a RIM unit that makes software used to run everything from cars to nuclear reactors.

On a PlayBook, users can go online only using a Wi-Fi network or by synchronising the device to their BlackBerry smartphones.

According to analysts, sales in the tablet PC segment in India are expected to touch one million units over the next 12 months.

With 3G (high-speed internet services) being rolled out aggressively, the opportunity has only expanded, they said.

    Difference Between PaaS and SaaS

Cloud computing is a style of computing in which resources are made available over the internet. Most often these resources are extensible and highly visualized resources and they are provided as a service. Cloud computing is broken down in to few different categories based on the type of service provided. SaaS (Software as a Service) is the category of cloud computing in which the main resources available as a service are software applications. PaaS (Platform as a Service) is the category/application of cloud computing in which the service providers deliver a computing platform or a solution stack to their subscribers over the internet.

    What is PaaS?
PaaS is the category/application of cloud computing in which the service providers deliver a computing platform (a hardware architecture and a software framework) or a solution stack (computer subsystem needed to run a software). This makes it possible for the subscribers to deploy an application without having to buy and manage the necessary software and hardware requirements. The responsibility of maintaining the necessary hardware, operating systems, helper applications and databases is the sole responsibility of the service provider. The PaaS subscribers can make use of the delivered platform to build and ultimately deliver web applications and services. PaaS services typically offer complete set of facilities for designing, developing, testing and deploying applications to team collaboration, web service and database integration, version control and configuration management of software. All these facilities are usually available as a single integrated development environment making it very convenient to the developers or the users. Four popular types of PaaS are Add-on, Stand alone, delivery-only and open platform PaaS.

    What is SaaS?
SaaS is one of the categories/methodologies of cloud computing. As mentioned above, resources available as a service through SaaS are specifically software applications. Here, an application is shared across multiple clients using the “one-to-many” model. The advantage offered for the SaaS user is that she can avoid installing and maintaining software and can free herself from complex software/hardware requirements. The provider of SaaS software, also known as hosted software or on-demand software, will take care of the security, availability and performance of the software because they are run on the provider’s servers. Using a multitenant architecture, a single application is delivered to millions of users through internet browsers. Customers do not require upfront licensing while providers are enjoying a lower cost because they are maintaining just one application. Popular SaaS software are Salesforce.com, Workday, Google Apps and Zogo Office.

    What is IaaS?
IaaS: When the cloud computing system that is offered to you provides you with only infrastructure or the actual hardware (servers and disks), the system is essentially a IaaS. What you get is an infrastructure. You are responsible for installing all the required platforms on top of it. You are responsible for upgrading the necessary platforms if there is a new version released in the market. Let’s say you have installed the .NET Platform on IaaS. Whenever Microsoft releases a new version of .Net, you as an end user of the cloud computing system, take full responsibility of upgrading the system to a newer version of the .Net. It might require you to completely bring your website running on the cloud down, to complete the upgrading process and you will have to live with it

What is the difference between PaaS and SaaS?
Even though, PaaS and SaaS are two applications/categories of cloud computing, they have their key differences. PaaS is the category/application of cloud computing in which the service providers deliver a computing platform or a solution stack, SaaS focuses on specifically making software applications available over the internet. Important difference between these two services can be identified from the type of subscribers. PaaS is typically used by application developers, while SaaS is used by end users. In other words, PaaS provides a mechanism to develop applications whereas SaaS provides already completed products for the use of the subscribers without modifications.

Difference between Cloud Computing vs Grid Computing

Cloud computing and grid computing are the two different ways through which computing is done. Cloud computing means the services are used on the internet rather than local system. However, grid computing deals with the sharing of tasks over number of computers. Cloud computing can be described as a type of grid computing.

    Cloud Computing
In late 2007, the term cloud computing was coined. In cloud computing, the services that are used daily are moved on the internet rather than being stored on a local machine. Email is a small example of cloud computing and it is available in both methods. Services like Yahoo mail and Google mail provide email facility and people do not need Microsoft Outlook or other applications for the purpose of mail. In this way, email service can be used anywhere in the world where there is internet connection.
After 2007, other services like spreadsheets, presentations and word processing entered cloud computing as Google provided presentation, spread sheets and word processing services and integrated them with Google Calendar and Gmail. Microsoft also entered the cloud computing arena and introduced some applications that can be used by internet users. Microsoft has largely focused on cloud computing.
    Grid Computing
Sharing of tasks over number of computers is known as Grid computing. The tasks can simply be data storage or it can be complex calculations. The distribution of tasks can be over large distances. The computers in a grid can act as a part of grid while they are not in use. In order to complete projects, the grid search for unutilized cycles on different computers to access them. One of the popular grid computing projects is SETI@home. There are many organizations that rely on different volunteers who offer their computers to be added on the grid.
A virtual supercomputer is created after these computers are joined together. There may be some problem in these networked computers but still they are powerful than the supercomputers used in 70s and 80s. The principles of grid computing provide the way for modern supercomputers with many small computers attached to each other to form a supercomputer.
Different types of grids can be created using the various techniques of grid computing. By using multiple computers, power as well as flexibility is added to the system. For example, a data grid manages large information that can be accessed by the users.
However, grid computing is different from cluster computing. Firstly, there is no centralized management in grid computing as the computers are controlled in an independent manner. The computers in a grid can have different hardware or operating system.

Difference between cloud computing and grid computing

    • Cloud computing involves the use of services on the internet rather than local computers while grid computing involves sharing of tasks over multiple computers.
    • Resources of multiple computers are shared in grid computing which greatly helps in improving the flexibility and power of the network whereas this not the case with cloud computing.
    • Applications like spreadsheets, presentations, email and word processors are part of cloud computing whereas in grid computing, data storage or complex calculations are done.
Difference Between Cloud Computing and Virtualization

Virtualization is Technique but cloud computing is a concept using Virtualization technique.
Virtualization could be done internally in on site and the resource involvement except hardware still exists but where as in cloud computing no internal resources will be required.

Over 7.5 Million Underage Users on Facebook

The world’s most popular social-networking service, had 7.5 million U.S. users who were younger than 13 in the past year, a violation of the site’s policies, according to a survey by Consumer Reports.
More than 5 million of the users were under age 11, according to the Consumer Reports “State of the Net” survey. In addition, Facebook exposed more than 5 million U.S. households to some type of “abuse,” including virus infections and identity theft, the survey showed. About 1 million children experienced bullying on the site, Consumer Reports said.
“Despite Facebook’s age requirements, many kids are using the site who shouldn’t be,” said Jeff Fox, technology editor for the Yonkers, New York, magazine. “What’s even more troubling was the finding from our survey that indicated that a majority of parents of kids 10 and under seemed largely unconcerned by their children’s use of the site.”
Facebook, which has more than 500 million members, has faced criticism that it doesn’t protect the privacy of users, especially young people, and can be used to bully teens. Last month, the company announced additional safety tools, including a redesigned “Family Safety Center” that has videos and articles for teens, parents and teachers.
Facebook said it encourages communication between parents and kids about using the Internet safely.

    Age Restrictions

“Recent reports have highlighted just how difficult it is to implement age restrictions on the Internet and that there is no single solution to ensuring younger children don’t circumvent a system or lie about their age,” the company said today in an e-mailed statement. “We appreciate the attention that these reports and other experts are giving this matter and believe this will provide an opportunity for parents, teachers, safety advocates and Internet services to focus on this area.”
Facebook requires users to be at least 13 -- and older in some jurisdictions. The site also lets users report accounts registered to members who are under 13 so they can be deleted.
In March, Facebook said it’s expanding an existing reporting system that lets users flag content they consider bullying to a parent or teacher. The site also lists tips on preventing cyber-bullying, including using a “block” feature to stop abusive behavior.
In all, Palo Alto, California-based Facebook has 20 million American users under 18, Consumer Reports said.

Gmail Motion Biggest April Fools Joke

With April Fool’s day in full swing, one of technology’s greatest contributors has cooked up a joke that almost seems real.

When users of Google’s Gmail logged in this morning, Google notified them of a new extension of Gmal called “Gmail Motion.” The proposed idea would turn your laptop into an Xbox Kinect of sorts, as you would use your body motions to determine what Gmail would do.

    For example:
"To open a message make a movement as if you were opening an envelope. To reply, simply point backward with your thumb," the company says in a video demonstration of the product, which seems to be a riff on Microsoft's Kinect gaming system. "To reply all, use both hands. To send a message, lick a stamp and place it down."

According to the Gmail Motion webpage, “Gmail Motion uses your computer’s built-in webcam and Google’s patented spatial tracking technology to detect your movements and translate them into meaningful characters and commands. Movements are designed to be simple and intuitive for people of all skill levels.”
As a company known for their April Fool’s day pranks, this one might have caused the most confusion. Google released a drawing of all the responses Gmail would recognize, and provided pictures of “beta testers” making ridiculous signs with their hands.

While the idea might not be a bad one for the future, this iteration of user control will have to remain an April Fool’s joke for this year.

    Tsunami alerts on google

Unlike funny doodles that Google does for important events, it has broken its own rule of an absolute pristine homepage to issue a Tsunami warning.. Google put a tsunami alert on its famously spartan homepage following the massive earthquake in Japan.

The Google homepage now carries a one line warning, alerting the geographies that may face Tsunami waves soon. It says, Tsunami Alert for New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and others. Waves expected over the next few hours, caused by 8.9 earthquake in Japan.

A great initiative to provide information to users about the natural calamity. Also, like the New Zealand earthquake, Google has launched its person finder for Japan too. This helps people trace their missing loved ones by listing them on the Google website.

Google frequently makes mapping, communications and other online tools available after natural disasters but a news alert message on the Internet giant's home page is unusual.

Google launched a crisis response page following the earthquake at google.com/crisisresponse/japanquake2011.html.

It includes a "person finder" in English and Japanese which allows users to ask for information or provide information about individuals. It was tracking around 5,300 records at 1400 GMT.

The page also included emergency phone numbers and links to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and online disaster message boards in Japan.

It also featured videos of the quake submitted to Google-owned YouTube and a real-time feed of Twitter updates about the disaster.

    10 Reason's Why PC's Crash

Fatal Error : The system has become unstable or is busy," it says. "Enter to return to Windows or press Control-Alt-Delete to restart your computer. If you do this you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications."
You have just been struck by the Blue Screen of Death. Anyone who uses Mcft Windows will be familiar with this. What can you do? More importantly, how can you prevent it happening?

    1. Hardware Conflict

The number one reason why Windows crashes is hardware conflict. Each hardware device communicates to other devices through an interrupt request channel (IRQ). These are supposed to be unique for each device.

For example, a printer usually connects internally on IRQ 7. The keyboard usually uses IRQ 1 and the floppy disk drive IRQ 6. Each device will try to hog a single IRQ for itself.

If there are a lot of devices, or if they are not installed properly, two of them may end up sharing the same IRQ number. When the user tries to use both devices at the same time, a crash can happen. The way to check if your computer has a hardware conflict is through the following route:

Facts about Steve Jobs and Apple

Today i attended seminar on entrepreneurship, An entrepreneur is a person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture or idea and is accountable for the inherent risks and the outcome. There are hundreds of entrepreneurs that come from tough or modest backgrounds but their stories will generally be deemed inspiring only when they are visibly successful.so i try to find some role models for new entrepreneur, suddenly i found only one name. he is Steve Jobs. he is owner of Apple computers and Pixar

Apple CEO Steve Jobs single-handedly saved Apple, wrought a revolution in online music, created a world-beating smartphone, led Pixar to dominate computer animation and now with iPad has once again rewritten computing history.

So it's little surprise that Apple chief executive Steve Jobs regulary adorns the Most Respected CEOs list. He was also named CEO of the decade by Fortune magazine, which said that Jobs' success in reordering four industries - computers, music, movies and mobile telephones - was "unheard of."

Deemed irreplaceable by many Apple fans and investors, pancreatic cancer survivor Jobs recently said that he would take a medical leave of absence to concentrate on his health -- two years after a previous health-related absence. As Apple once again gears up to deal with Jobs 'medical leave', here are some little-known facts about the tech czar.

Run Android Applications on other phones

Mobile technology company Myriad has announced new software called Alien Dalvik which will allow Android applications to run on non-Android phones. The software will be demonstrated live for the first time next week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Although Myriad may not be a household name, the company is also the maker of virtual machine software called Dalvik Turbo, which was introduced last year as way to speed up the performance of Android applications by up to three times, while also improving battery life on Android phones. This latest release builds on top of that technology and will be available for the MeeGo platform later this year, with other platforms to follow.

If you purchase a new smartphone there are a couple of choices you need to make beforehand. The first is what make and model of phone you desire, the second is the operating system you would prefer to use. Unfortunately, picking the phone inherently means you don’t have a choice in the OS it uses as they come pre-loaded.

Myriad is set to change that if you want access to Android on a smartphone that doesn’t offer it as an OS. The solution is the Myriad Alien Dalvik virtual machine, which allows Android apps to be run on alternative operating systems seamlessly.

This is actually more straightforward than it first seems. While Android is a full-blown operating system, Android apps run in a virtual machine due to the security that offers. So if you can recreate that emulation environment on another OS, the apps should run as normal and without any kind of performance hit to the app’s operation.

Myriad will be demonstrating Alien Dalvik at the Mobile World Congress next week, but the video above gives you a preview of it running on MeeGo using Nokia N900 hardware.

While users may find this useful if they have Android apps they like, but a non-Android phone, Myriad is actually aiming this at developers rather than consumers. Instead of developing an app for multiple platforms, Alien Dalvik allows an Android app to be developed and deployed everywhere. The user will not know an Android app is running on their other OS, as the virtual machine being used is completely transparent and the app just runs as if it is native.

For the moment Alien Dalvik is slated to get a commercial release for MeeGo later this year. Other operating systems are going to be supported and Myraid say they will be announced in the next few months and hopefully in time for the initial launch.

Facebook plans to launch mobile phone

London: After reaching heights of success, Facebook is now out with its phone for millions of users. A mobile phone manufacturer is set to launch the first Facebook phone.

INQ Mobile Friday revealed two new Android smartphones for the UK market that are designed expressly for 18/28-year-old Facebook users, the INQ Cloud Touch and the INQ Cloud Q.

Working closely with the team behind Facebook, London-based INQ has given the home screen a visual feed that lets users quickly access updates, pictures, videos, and other Facebook content, the Daily Mail reports.

The phones provide quick links to all the popular Facebook features, including chat, messages, wall postings and notifications.

Facebook messages and instant online chat facilities are what today's generation now uses for communication.

Facebook Events replaces the traditional diary and lets people schedule events and sync these with Google Calendar, and instead of an address book there is simply a "friend list".

"Writing on a [Facebook] wall is as easy as sending text messages," says INQ's co-founder Ken Johnstone.

Facebook Places is accessible directly from the homescreen, giving people the ability to use the feature to check in at stores, restaurants, clubs, and other spots.

Microsoft cripples USB drive worms with new XP, Vista update

Microsoft yesterday started offering Windows XP and Vista users an optional update that disables AutoRun, a feature of the operating system that the notorious Conficker and Stuxnet worms used to infect millions of PCs.

The move, said Microsoft, was a response to malware's continued reliance on infection tactics that abuse AutoRun and AutoPlay, a pair of technologies that automatically launch executable files on removable media, especially USB flash drives.

Both Conficker , a worm that spread widely in early 2009, and Stuxnet , the worm that analysts suspect was developed to sabotage Iran's nuclear programs, used AutoRun and flash drives to infect Windows PCs.

Researchers believe that Stuxnet first infiltrated Iran's nuclear program through infected USB drives, then used that foothold to spread through networks to reach the machines that controlled uranium enrichment centrifuges.

In-the-wild malware continues to abuse AutoRun to compromise PCs, Microsoft said. Four of the top 10 malware families in the last quarter of 2010 use AutoRun, among other techniques, to spread. Those four families accounted for 41% of all successful infections in the last three months of 2010.

Others see AutoRun as a major threat, too. Last August, Panda Software said that 25% of all worms were designed to propagate through the handy drives.

Microsoft changed AutoRun's behavior in Windows 7 to block automatic execution of files on a USB drive, and backported that functionality to Windows XP and Vista with an update in August 2009. Users of XP and Vista, however, had to seek out and manually download that update from Microsoft's site.

With that change in place, flash drives inserted into a PC running XP or Vista users no longer offered the option to run programs; the AutoRun extinction did not affect CDs or DVDs -- what Microsoft calls "shiny media."

Yesterday's move makes it easier for XP and Vista users to retrieve and install the AutoRun deactivation update, since it now appears as an optional download in Windows Update and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), the consumer and business update mechanisms, respectively.

Microsoft security spokesman Jerry Bryant said Tuesday that the more than year-and-a-half delay in pushing the AutoRun update to Windows Update was designed to give legitimate software vendors that used the feature time to recraft their programs.

Most have turned to the U3 specification -- a standard backed by SanDisk, a major maker of flash drives -- to automatically run their software from removable media.

Microsoft hopes that the update will better protect Windows machines, particularly those running XP, which have been harder hit by malware that uses AutoRun as one of several spreading strategies.

According to data gleaned from Microsoft's antivirus software, XP systems are more than 10 times more likely to become infected by malware that uses AutoRun than PCs running Windows 7.

"Although causative proof is difficult to quantify, it is quite possible that these figures reflect, at least in part, the improvements made to the security of AutoRun in Windows 7," said Holly Stewart, a senior program manager at the Microsoft Malware Protection Center (MMPC), in a post to the team's blog Tuesday.

The AutoRun change can be installed by selecting the "KB971029" update from the "Software, Optional" section of Windows Update in XP. The same update is listed in Vista's Windows Update panel under "Important" -- the same section devoted to Tuesday's patches -- but the KB971029 entry's box must be checked to add it to the download and install list.

    Wikileaks struggling to back online

Wikileaks is struggling to return at a new web address, wikileaks.ch, after hoster EveryDNS.net threw in the towel in the face of a sustained distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack.
This too appears to have gone down intermittently, whether from service overload or a new DDoS. A ping to the underlying IP, 213.251.145.96 was timing out this morning before returning minutes later.
The site has this week become itinerant in the most difficult way imaginable for any web admin.

First Amazon suspended Wikileaks as a customer for reasons that remain clouded in controversy. Amazon says the site broke its rules but others claim that pressure was applied by the US Government. Amazon also came under a DDoS attack it was able to fend off.
Then a day ago, EveryDNS.net ditched Wikileaks, leaving the site scrambling to find a home.
None of this is new to Wikileaks, which has in recent times hosted its primary servers in an underground Cold War bunker under the streets of Stockholm. The metaphor this supplies is starting to look appropriate for a site that has never in its recent existence been popular.
Exactly who would want to DDoS the site is moot given the number of parties that might be offended by its US diplomatic cables leak. It would be easier to list who might not want to stop its operations.

    Mobile Number Portability (MNP) steps

The most awaited mobile service MNP (Mobile Number Portability) has been introduced in India. Now mobile phone users will be able to switch their service providers for network coverage, service quality, customer support and price related issues. The cellular service providers will be able to to switch to another operator who can offer better network coverage, service quality, customer support or price. As of MNP launched, the largest service providers in India like Idea and Vodafone may get new faces as they were promoting MNP since long time.
Some Mobile Number Portability FAQ’s are here to process or switch service provider under MNP

    Step1
    - Send a SMS to 1900 using syntax below in your SMS
    PORT for example PORT 8254782XXX
After sending the sms You will receive a sms having a unique porting code you can use that code in communication with new service provider for MNP switching.

    Step2
    - Visit your current service provider office/franchise and clear your outstanding dues or bills if any.

    Step 3

    - Visit the new service provider’s office/franchise, apply MNP service. Here you would need to provide the unique porting code you received in step 1.
*Remember, unique porting code has some expiry time, you should complete the process ASAP.
After you apply to New Service provider, they will take some time for the approval process from your old service provider. This may takes 4-7 days approx for completion. During this time current mobile number will remain operative as Government said to them MNP mobile number service should not be discontinued until procedure completed by both service providers, However a domain time up to 2 hours may occur during technical process of MNP.

    Step 4
    - Your old service provider will surely tell expected date and time they will switch off your number, while new service provider will start your service thereafter.

    Step 5
MNP charges are Rs.19, these charges are for porting your current mobile phone number from one operator to another. MNP charges should be paid to new service provider only. You will get the New SIM Card from your New Service Provider.
Now all you need to do is, change your SIM card to new after MNP is completed.

Instructions for Prepaid and Postpaid Users
Both Prepaid and Postpaid can avail MNP service, infect this program is for everyone.
Prepaid account balance will not be forwarded to new service provider. All current balance will lose when you will switch to new service provider, you better consume it before.
Postpaid users should clear all outstanding bills before porting the number.

Service Portability For CDMA and GSM
Yes now CDMA numbers can be ported to GSM service or vice-versa as well. As an example, It is now possible to shift from Reliance CDMA to Idea GSM.

    MNP Program Rules and Limitations
-You can’t switch the service provider second time within 90 days of first portability.
-Circle Limitations is there, MNP does not work in inter circle portability.

Google start censoring Torrents, Rapidshare & more

The entertainment industries’ quest to root out piracy on the Internet has yet again resulted in commercial censorship. A few weeks ago Google announced that it would start filtering “piracy related” terms from its ‘Autocomplete‘ and ‘Instant‘ services and today they quietly rolled out this questionable feature.
Without a public notice Google has compiled a seemingly arbitrary list of keywords for which auto-complete is no longer available. Although the impact of this decision does not currently affect full search results, it does send out a strong signal that Google is willing to censor its services proactively, and to an extent that is far greater than many expected.
Among the list of forbidden keywords are “uTorrent”, a hugely popular piece of entirely legal software and “BitTorrent”, a file transfer protocol and the name of San Fransisco based company BitTorrent Inc. As of today, these keywords will no longer be suggested by Google when you type in the first letter, nor will they show up in Google Instant.

Naturally, the companies and services that have been removed from Google's instant searches are angry. "We respect Google's right to determine algorithms to deliver appropriate search results to user requests. That being said, our company's trademarked name is fairly unique, and we're pretty confident that anyone typing the first six or seven letters deserves the same easy access to results as with any other company search," said Simon Morris of BitTorrent Inc.

RapidShare also shared its sentiments. "We embrace that certain search suggestions will not put a wrong complexion on RapidShare anymore, but we are concerned that at the same time the legitimate interests of our users will also be affected," the service said. "RapidShare is one of the most popular websites worldwide. Every day hundreds of thousands of users rely on our services to pursue their perfectly legitimate interests…Google has obviously gone too far."

The change shouldn't significantly affect your daily browsing, but it shows that Google will serve the entertainment industry when pressured and it's only fair to question how far the company is willing to go. TorrentFreak also notes that the current blacklist appears somewhat random. Although uTorrent and Xunlei are excluded from results, BitComet and Vuze aren't. Likewise, other filesharing sites such as The Pirate Bay, 4shared, HotFile and MediaFire are still visible.

How to Hide Hard Disk Partitions in Windows ?

Sometimes our Hard disk contains private data, which you don't want to share with someone, who use same computer. Want to hide your hard disk partition fully in windows operating system? then this trick is helpful to you.

There is a command available to do this task. It is “diskpart” command which needs to be used in command prompt to get the job done. This technique works only in windows operating systems.

Using this command you can hide the hard disk volumes such as C:\ ,D:\, E:\. Here is the step by step method to carry over it.

1.Type “diskpart” in run command box without quotes. (A command window will get opened)

2.Then type “list volume“. (Your hard disk partitioned volumes will be listed)

3.Now type “select volume ” – (Volume number is the numeric variable which is shown in the volume listing)

4.Type “remove letter – (Volume letter is the alphabetic character of the drive such as C,D,E,F…Z)

Thus your hard disk partition is hidden. If you need to resume it then follow the first three steps as usual and
in the fourth step replace “remove” with “assign“.

this trick is helpful for parents, who want to hide games & movies from their kids.

Hacker offers full control of military and government websites

If you're a criminal looking for full control of the web used by the US Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM), you can get it for just under US$500.
At least that's what one hacker is offering in underground forums. Security vendor Imperva found the black market sales pitch Thursday and posted details of the incident on Friday.
The hacker says he has control over a number of websites, including other military sites, government sites, and those belonging to universities, said Noa Bar-Yosef, Imperva senior security strategist. Prices range from $33 to $499, depending on how important or widely used the website is. "You can actually buy the capability of being the administrator of the website," she said.

The hacker is also selling databases of personal information he's stolen from the websites for $20 per thousand records, she said. That data could be used by spammers, or by fraudsters to break into online accounts.
Bar-Yosef saw evidence that administrative privileges for 16 sites were for sale. In one case, the hacker is selling data on 300,000 people, taken from the site.
Whoever is selling this stuff probably broke into these websites using a common web attack called SQL injection, Bar-Yosef said. For years now, hackers have been scanning the web looking for poorly written Web pages, specifically ones with search boxes or data-entry forms that connect with back-end databases. Then, they try to sneak database commands in through those pages.
With automated tools it's easy for even non-technical hackers, sometimes called "script kiddies"  to pull off this type of attack.

When SQL injection works, the results can be devastating. It's what notorious hacker Albert Gonzalez used to break into companies such as Heartland Payment Systems and 7-Eleven.
Imperva redacted the names of the victims from its blog post, but security blogger Brian Krebs has posted more details of the incident, including the names of many of the hacked sites. They include the US states of Utah and Michigan, the government of Italy and the Department of Defense Pharmacoeconomic Center, which analyzes the military's use of drugs and helps the Department of Veterans Affairs procure drug contracts.
"Amid all of the media and public fascination with threats like Stuxnet and weighty terms such as 'cyberwar,' it's easy to overlook the more humdrum and persistent security threats, such as Web site vulnerabilities," Krebs wrote on his blog Friday. "But none of these distractions should excuse U.S. military leaders from making sure their Web sites aren't trivially hackable by script kiddies."

Watching 3D films bad for health?

Now a days 3D movies are popular, because 3D movies provide feel of real word, But It can affects our health by affecting eyestrain, blurred vision, dizziness, headaches.

But There is still no scientific evidence which proves whether the eyestrain, blurred vision, dizziness, headaches or nausea reportedly caused by watching 3D content, will cause long term damage, according to experts.

As 3D content and 3D-enabled devices become more mainstream, the health warnings are on the rise.

For example, consumer electronic giants, such as Samsung, have issued several warnings relating to the consumption of 3D.

However, eye experts have questioned the validity of these warnings, and believe that these electronics companies are erring on the side of caution to avoid any potential lawsuits, just in case there are any unexpected side effects of 3D technology.

"There is no decent scientific evidence or research at the moment to show that 3D technology cause any harm to children's or adults eyes...I think at the moment it is more a case of these technology companies covering their backs in the current world of regular litigation," the Telegraph quoted Gail Stephenson, head of the Directorate of Orthoptics and Vision Science at Liverpool University, as saying.

"As with any type of activity done for a long period of time, such as sitting on the sofa while watching TV for hours on end, people may suffer some symptoms after wards - such as headaches, blurred vision and disorientation. So I think the message to people using 3D technology is not to enjoy it without regular breaks.

Whenever we put any of our bodily systems under stress, they react unusually but there is nothing to say there is anything specifically harmful about 3D technology to the eyes of children or adults," she added.

Microsoft launches WebMatrix, a free Web development tool for beginners

Dev tools debut along with ASP.Net model view controller

Making multiple moves in the web development space, Microsoft is introducing this week both a website building tool for neophytes and the third major version of its MVC (Model View Controller) technology.
Due Thursday, WebMatrix is "a new tool to make it easier for people to build websites," said Microsoft's Brian Goldfarb, director of web platform and tools. Geared for students and new developers, WebMatrix is a text-based tool for writing code.
The free tool supports ASP.Net and PHP development. Users could write applications like a Facebook Like button or a Twitter search capability, or start an application from scratch.

The tool, however, lacks more sophisticated capabilities of Microsoft's Visual Studio IDE, such as debugging. "People get started [with] WebMatrix, and when and if they're ready, [they can] begin using Visual Studio to take advantage of more advanced features," Goldfarb said.
Developers can start with an open source application, such as WordPress, Joomla or DotNetNuke, and use WebMatrix to download and configure these applications. Also, tools are provided for building a website, including a web server, database and framework.
WebMatrix has been downloadable in preview form at the WebMatrix website.
Microsoft also is releasing on Thursday ASP.Net MVC 3, which offers web development based on MVC.
"The key, simple way to think about [the tool] is MVC provides you with a solution that's more customisable," offering dependency injection for example, said Goldfarb. With dependency injection, developers can plug in dependencies into an application and perform functions like switching out the database.

"It open ups ASP.Net MVC such that anything can be swapped out," said Scott Hanselman, community architect for web and platform tools at Microsoft.
ASP.Net MVC 3 is a free, open source technology that can work with Visual Studio or any text editor. Version 3 has been in development at Microsoft for a while, with a release candidate offered in November. Among the features of ASP.Net 3 is Razor, providing a compact view engine for ASP.Net, as well as the NuGet open source package manager.
Also featured is "unobtrusive JavaScript," providing an approach to JavaScript that avoids injecting inline JavaScript into HTML marketup and enables cleaner separation of behavior using the new HTML5 data convention.
Microsoft has offered ASP.Net MVC downloads at the ASP.Net website.
